Ostinato Vocal Ensemble

Ostinato Vocal Ensemble

The Ostinato Vocal Ensemble was founded in 1999. Its 8 members are Joana Llaves and Rosana Schiabi (sopranos), Alicia Borges and Barbara Stein (mezzos-sopranos), Jorge Gómez and Matthias Dahlhoff (tenors), Guillermo Anzorena (baritone), and Andreas Fischer (bass). They are all young professional singers who possess significant careers as performers and teachers in Europe. As members of the ensemble, they gather regularly to perform the choral music of Carlos Guastavino.

The mezzo-soprano Alicia Borges and the baritone Guillermo Anzorena, both members of the artist roster of Fundacion Ostinato since 1998, are the leading voices of this ensemble. Alicia and Guillermo recently recorded solo vocal music by Carlos Guastavino for Fundacion Ostinato, including the cycles "Flores Argentinas", "Sonetos de Quevedo", "Siete Canciones sobre poesias de Rafael Alberti" and "Canciones Populares Argentinas." The Ostinato Vocal Ensemble recorded "Indianas" Nos. 1 and 2, for choir and piano, "Despedida" for baritone, choir and piano, and "Romance de la Delfina" for male vocal quartet and piano. This material, entirely produced by Ostinato, will be released soon.

During 2001, the Vocal Ensemble is taking part of a tour of Argentina organized by Ostinato, dedicated to the memory of the late Carlos Guastavino, who passed away on October 28, 2000. The Ensemble will visit Mendoza in August 2001. Other planned presentations include San Juan and other cities of Argentina.
